I have once again teamed with the good folks over at A&E Home Entertainment/MLB Productions to hold a trivia contest. The prize this time is a DVD copy of Johan Santana’s epic June 1 no-hitter, the first no-hitter in the team’s 50 year history.
The DVD is also available here if you are not a winner.
The rules are simple — the first five people who email me the correct answer get a DVD. You can find my email address above at the “Contact” tab.
Here is the question:
R.A. Dickey famously followed Santana’s no-hitter with two consecutive one-hitters. This is the first time a Mets pitcher has thrown consecutive one-hitters, but not the first time a Mets pitcher has thrown two complete game one-hitters in the same season. Who was that pitcher, an unlikely one at that?
CONTEST CLOSED: The answer was Steve Trachsel — June 15, 2003 and August 18, 2003.
