R.A. Dickey Deal Done; John Thole, Mike Nickeas Go, Too
The official announcement may come at any minute, but the R.A. Dickey deal is reportedly done and done. Dickey passed his physical Monday after earlier agreeing to a two-year, $25 million extension.
R.A. Dickey will go to the Blue Jays along with Josh Thole and Mike Nickeas for catcher Travis d’Arnaud, backup catcher John Buck, top pitching prospect Noah Syndergaard and a minor leaguer named Wuilmer Becerra.
Nickeas’s inclusion in the trade is a bit of a surprise, but the Mets really don’t need him anymore. Becerra is an 18-year-old outfielder who has played 11 games in Rookie League. He could end up to be this trade’s Dan Norman, or he can be a superstar.
