Bobby Parnell Signs for $1.7 Million
Mets Blog reports Thursday night that Bobby Parnell has avoided arbitration and has signed a $1.7 million deal with the Mets for 2013.
Parnell made $504,000 last season and I thought he would end up making about a million bucks in 2013, so I was way off.
Parnell was 5-4 with seven saves and a 2.49 ERA in 2012. Bobby Parnell can be dominant at times, but when called upon in pressure situations, he tends to wilt. Parnell was given the chance to close several times and he was not up to the task. He’s had 13 saves over the past two seasons but also has 11 blown saves.
Now that he’s making serious money, Bobby Parnell really needs to step it up in 2013 and emerge as a reliable, late inning option.
