Photos: Mets World Series Programs

The World Series is always a good time for Mets fans to look back at the team’s past triumphs, since it doesn’t look like the Mets will be playing in October anytime soon.

To help you with that, I have taken photos of all of the Mets World Series programs (I have them all, including two from 1969. So there.). I have also included the away game programs for 1969 and 1973.

MLB wanted in on the cash action and took over publication of the programs, so now there is just one boring, generic one for each World Series. Check out the 1986 program — it doesn’t even have the teams’ names on the cover. Lame, MLB, very lame. At least in 2000 they stuck the names in the corner.

  • A good look at what a program for the most important baseball game should NOT be!

  • Met Fan 4 Ever

Aww, come on, Bob! Some girl from the Art program at Hunter College worked hard on that design so that she could add it to her portfolio. I mean, look at all those pastel colors! Notice the lack of insignia on the uniform. It could have been ANY team. They must have worked all season on that design!

Just “re-branding” the World Series as “The Fall Classic” is priceless in of itself! And to add the subtitle “The Subway Series” to the cover just enhances the effect. I’m surprised they didn’t use Tim McCarver’s face for the guy swooping through the air after the ball…
