Mets Demote Scott Rice

In a slight surprise, the Mets have demoted Scott Rice in order to activate Gonzalez Germen from the disabled list.

Rice started the season as the lone lefty in the bullpen. However, he has just not gotten the job done. His main job is to get lefty batters out; instead, they are hitting .262 against him as opposed to .174 last season. He is useless against righties — they are hitting .400. Overall Scott Rice has a 5.92 ERA in 13.2 innings spread out over 32 games.

Still though, it was assumed that Dana Eveland would be sent down to Vegas when Gonzalez returned. Eveland has pitched reasonably well in his three games — three innings, a 3.00 ERA.  The Mets like threes, apparently.
