Photos: Work on Citi Field Walls Progressing
Photos from the past few days show just how much the Mets are bringing in the Citi Field walls in right field.
This one comes courtesy of The 7 Line:
It is hard to judge exactly how many feet that is, but it looks pretty substantial.
Here is an aerial view from the WCBS traffic helicopter:
I am kind of surprised the new wall is not extending all the way to the right field foul pole, thus eliminating that nook. A team official tells Newsday, “The general premise is to make it a fairer ballpark for hitters and pitchers and a little less gimmicky.” Keeping that nook still makes a bit gimmicky, but it is still much better than it was before.
It looks like the Mets will be able to expand the bullpens as well as add some more seats. Yes, Citi Field needs more seats, what with all of its sellout crowds.
I agree, they should eliminate the nook in the Modells zone. The quirks were totally unnecessary. I hope they don’t put an electronic board on the wall like KC and other parks. These are absolutly horrible. Also don’t like when fans can interfere with play like in Baltimore. Can you say Jeffery Maier? Hopefully these changes work out.
