Three months after he became a free agent, Vic Black said farewell to Mets fans. He posted a classy letter online:
This does not surprise me. Vic Black was a stand-up guy and was very active on Twitter, always engaging fans. He genuinely seemed to like the interaction. I rarely retweet anything, but I thought this warranted it. And Black was kind enough to respond to me:
I repeat, too bad things didn’t work out. When he was pitching well, Black showed potential to be a closer. But then he got injured and just could not make it back. Hopefully he can figure things out and latch on with another team. A nice guy like Vic Black deserves another chance.
