Reports: Mets Hire Mickey Callaway as Manager

Multiple reports Sunday night say the Mets have hired Indians pitching coach Mickey Callaway to be their next manager. Who’s says the Mets never do anything unexpected?!

Of all the reported candidates for the job, Callaway was the only one without former or current Mets ties. Oh, and he was also the one virtually no Mets fans had ever heard of.

But apparently he impressed Sandy Alderson, who had heard of him. Callaway appears to be widely respected around baseball, so perhaps this will be a good hire and Mickey Callaway will become the next great manager. Who knows?

In any case, the Mets reportedly have a new manager. Now let’s go out and get some new players.
