Mets Clinch Wild Card!
Well, that was something! The Mets clinching a Wild Card spot in a game that defined their season.
They were down 3-0 to the Braves after seven innings, and when things seemed dire, they rallied for six runs in the top of the eighth to take a 6-3 lead. However, the Braves came back in the bottom of the inning with four runs to make it 7-6. But the Mets pulled victory from the jaws of what looked like certain defeat — Francisco Lindor slamming a two-run homer to give the Mets the 8-7 win.
The Braves took the nightcap to secure their own Wild Card spot, leaving the Diamondbacks to slither into the off-season.
The Mets now travel back to Milwaukee to take on the Brewers. That’s been a tough place for them to play over the years, but who cares?! The Mets are playing in October, when earlier in season that looked like an impossibility.
