Ike Davis Won’t be Sent to Minors

The question of whether or not the struggling Ike Davis will be sent to the minors to work out his problems has been answered — he will not.

Mets Blog reports that according to SNY, Terry Collins told Davis that he is not going anywhere. Collins said that while Davis will not be platooned, he plans on using Davis in situations in which he has the best chance to succeed. For example, Davis will not be in the starting lineup Thursday night against lefty Eric Stults.

I think this is the right decision. Davis is crucial if the Mets plan on making a run this season, which definitely looks feasible. Davis has proven that he is a big league player, a potential star even. He should be allowed to figure things out in the majors rather than suffering the humiliation of being demoted.
