Videos: Cannon Blows Shea Stadium Wall Apart
Here are two interesting pieces of video. Back in 1975 when the Yankees were in the middle of their two-year sojourn into Shea Stadium, they held a pre-game ceremony to mark the 200th anniversary of the U.S. Army. They gave the traditional 21-gun salute, but somehow the force from the cannon explosion knocked down part of the Shea Stadium outfield wall, and even started a small fire. Two networks — CBS and NBC — deemed this national news:
