Reports: Ike Davis Traded to Pirates

Tweets from multiple baseball writers Friday evening say the Mets have agreed to trade Ike Davis to the Pirates. The  Mets are expected to get one or two prospects in return.

The Pirates have been linked to Davis since the off-season, but Sandy Alderson apparently finally pulled the trigger on Friday.

Davis is hitting .208 with a home run and five RBIs in 24 at bats this season.

So now it is official — Lucas Duda is the starting first baseman for the Mets.

UPDATE:

The Mets formally announced the trade and said they will receive right handed reliever Zack Thornton and a player to be named later. Thornton is 25 years old and has yet to pitch in the majors. He is 2-0 with a 1.23 ERA in Triple-A this season. He also has eight strikeouts in 7.1 innings with one walk. In his five-year minor league career he has 285 strikeouts in 252.1 innings with a 3.03 ERA.
