Yankees End Mets Streak at 11
Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later — the Mets winning streak is over. But did it have to come at the hands of the hated Yankees?
The Bronx Bombers topped the Mets 6-1 Friday night to end the streak at a franchise-tying record 11 games. But still, there is no reason for the Mets to hang their heads. At 13-4 they still have the best record in baseball.
The key for the Mets now is to put the loss behind them and avoid a letdown. They do not need to start another long winning streak (although no one would be upset if they did), but they cannot have a long losing streak. Their superior starting pitching probably insulates them from that. But the Mets and their fans are riding high; we all need to stay there.
