Arrieta, Keuchel Named Top Pitchers by IBWAA

Jake Arrieta and Dallas Keuchel have been named the top pitchers in their respective leagues by the Internet Baseball Writers Association of America (IBWAA).

The race in the National League wasn’t as close as predicted. Arrieta got 79-first place votes and 930 points, compared to 68/851 for Zack Greinke. Clayton Kershaw, Gerrit Cole and Max Scherzer rounded out the top five. I had the same order except for fifth place — I cast my vote for Jacob deGrom. I know, shocking.

The race was actually closer in the American League, Keuchel had 92 first-place votes for 956 points. David Price was second with 904 points. Sonny Gray, Chris Sale and Chris Archer were next. I had the top three, but voted Felix Hernandez and Marco Estrada in the final two spots.
