Mets Drop Another One; Losing Streak at 6
The Mets are now owners of a six-game losing streak after dropping another game in Arizona.
The Mets took the early lead when Zack Greinke lost the plate. With runners on second and third in the second inning, Greinke walked both Rene Rivera and Curtis Granderson to force in a run. He found the plate and struck out the next two batters to leave the bases loaded.
Tommy Milone, making his second Mets start, allowed four runs in the third inning, capped off by a botched rundown in which the Diamondbacks stole a run.
Curtis Granderson cut the lead to 4-2 when he led off the fifth with a home run.
Yasmany Tomas got the run back in the sixth when he led off with a homer of his own.
Milone was lifted with two outs in the sixth, allowing five runs on six hits., He struck out four and walked three. Milone is serviceable until Steven Matz and/or Seth Lugo can come back, whenever that is.
Rene Rivera got the Mets to within a run with a two-run homer in the seventh to make it a 5-4 game.
But that’s as close as they could get, as they go down yet again. The Mets will try to snap the skid in a matinée in the desert Wednesday afternoon.
