Down Goes Frazier!
It’s a good thing the Mets signed so many infielders this winter — two of them are already injured at this early juncture in Spring Training.
In addition to Jed Lowrie’s injury that could sideline him for Opening Day (good signing, by the way), now Todd Frazier has gone down (see what I did there? For you youngsters, click here.) with an oblique injury.
“I was hitting the ball great, and then I felt a little tightness in my left side,” Frazier said according to ESPN.com. I hate when that happens.
So what does this mean? Well, it enhances the odds of Peter Alonso coming North with the team. And it likely keeps Jeff McNeil in the infield where he belongs. So perhaps there are silver linings to these injuries. Lowrie and Frazier would not see it that way, of course, but youth must be served.
In any case, the injury bug keeps hitting the Mets despite the changes in culture and training staff. What is in the water in Port St. Lucie?
