The Internet Baseball Writers Association of America (IBWAA) on Friday named Devin Williams and Liam Hendriks the top relievers in their respective leagues.
The rookie Williams was the easy winner in the National League, collecting 358 points. Josh Hader was second with 144 and our Edwin Diaz was third with 119 points. I went with all closers and voted for Brandon Kintzler, Diaz and Jeremy Jeffress. Odd how my fellow writers denied Williams the Rookie of the Year award but gave him the reliever award.
Over in the American League, Hendriks outpaced Brad Hand 529-248. Alex Colome was third with 135. I had the same three pitchers but a different order –Colome, Hendriks and Hand.
