Game Recaps

Mets 5-Game Winning Streak Snapped

The Nationals snapped the Mets five-game winning streak on Saturday, shutting out the Mets 3-0. All of the scoring happened in the first inning on a Jayson Werth three-run home run off loser R.A. Dickey (below). The Mets offense managed virtually nothing, obviously, although they made it interesting in the ninth but left the bases loaded.

David Wright had two more hits, making it 19-for-40 since he came back from the DL. Is it me or does Wright seem to be crouching in his stance more than he used to? If so, it’s working.

Jason Bay had two more hits — he’s seven for his last 12. He still doesn’t seem to be hitting the ball with authority, though.

On the other side of the coin, Jose Reyes seems to be in a little slump. He was 0-for-4, and is three for his last 21 over the past five games. He’s “only” hitting .340, down from a season high of .355 on July 19.

The Mets go for the series win Sunday.
