Mets Roster Moves Tuesday
The Mets made some roster moves Tuesday, designating one player for assignment and replacing players on the disabled list, while another player avoided the DL, for now anyway.
Chris Young needed to be added to the 40-man roster to start in Washington, so Jack Egbert was designated for assignment to make room. Egbert pitched in one game in relief for the Mets.
Miguel Batista was activated from the DL and Ramon Ramirez, who hurt his hamstring during the Johan Santana no-hitter celebration, was placed on the DL.
As far as Jon Rauch and his aching elbow, ESPNNewYork.com’s Adam Rubin tweets that there is “debris” in the elbow, and that while he won’t be placed on the DL, he will miss the series with the Nationals while the debris clears up or whatever it is that elbow debris does.
The Mets will likely make one more roster move this week when Jason Bay is ready to return. It was supposed to happen Tuesday but he’s sick.
