Daniel Murphy Makes All-Star Team

Daniel Murphy has been named to his first All-Star game while David Wright was left off the team for just the third time in his 10 full seasons.

Murphy is certainly deserving — he is tied for second in the National League in hits with 106 and is batting .294, good for 14th.

“I’m very excited, but the word I’d use is humbling,” Daniel Murphy said. “And the other word is blessed.”

As for Wright, he finished 300,000 votes behind starting third baseman Aramis Ramirez. He was left off in favor of Todd Frazier, who definitely deserves it, and Matt Carpenter, who is only on the team because his Cardinals manager happens to be the manager of the squad.
