Multiple reports Saturday night say the Mets have agreed to trade Neil Walker to the Brewers. They will receive a player to be named later.
Perhap most surprising is that the Mets will reportedly pay some of the $5 million left on Walker’s contract, something they refused to do with Jay Bruce. So perhaps this player will be a real prospect, as opposed to the 30th round pick they got for Bruce.
Walker has had an injury-plagued year, with 10 homers and a .264 batting average in 73 games. His presence has really not been felt this season at all, so this is a win-win for the Mets.
