Elvin Ramirez to DL? Blue Jays Claim Chris Schwinden

As we nurse our hangovers from Johan Santana’s no-hitter, it’s time to get back to the business of baseball.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post tweeted Saturday afternoon that Elvin Ramirez hurt his hamstring while diving onto the pile to celebrate the no-hitter and is likely headed to the disabled list. Ramirez only joined the team Friday and has yet to throw a major league pitch. Well, at least he got to see a no-hitter in person.

The player Ramirez replaced on the roster, Chris Schwinden, was claimed on waivers by the Blue Jays. This is something of a surprise. Schwinden has pitched poorly in the majors, but pretty well in Triple-A. That’s where the Jays assigned him.

But who cares? The Mets finally have a no-hitter!
