Holy Crap! Yankees Get Ichiro Suzuki
In an absolutely stunning move, the Yankees have acquired Ichiro Suzuki from the Mariners.
The Yankees will send minor league pitchers D.J. Mitchell and Danny Farquhar to Seattle. The Mariners are also giving the Yankees money, which doesn’t seem fair.
The Yankees are in Seattle, so Ichiro will don the pinstripes for the first time in his former home city. That won’t be too weird.
The 38-year-old Ichiro is in his 12th major league season, a career in which he has already amassed 2533 hits. His streak of 10 consecutive 200-hit seasons ended last year. It was also the first season that he did not hit at least .300.
Ichiro is having another down year, hitting just .261, and he is obviously not the player he once was. But he’s still Ichiro. He can be a free agent after this season.
There were no rumors that this was going to happen which makes it even more surprising, not to mention that the 10-time All-Star is joining a team already filled with superstars. The rich just keep on getting richer.
