If you missed the live broadcast of the Rusty Staub Google Hangout Tuesday afternoon, here is the video of it.
I asked Staub about his trade from the Mets to the Tigers after the 1975 season. I always thought it was a curious trade — Staub was in the prime of his career and just set the Mets single-season RBI record with 105. In exchange, the Mets got a washed-up Mickey Lolich. Staub confirmed that there were money issues involved, and suggested the trade had something to do with personal animosity between Rusty Staub and Mets president M. Donald Grant.
I never got to ask a second question because my Internet connection failed towards the end of the session. But check it out; it was an honor to spend an hour with my favorite all-time Met.
