IBWAA Names Acuna, Ohtani Top Rookies

The Internet Baseball Writers Association of America (IBWAA) on Monday named Ronald Acuna, Jr. and Shohei Ohtani the rookies of the year in their respective leagues.

Acuna received 570 points, topping Juan Soto, who had 378 points. Walker Buehler was third. My ballot had the top two, with Jack Flaherty third. I’m surprised it wasn’t closer, since Acuna and Soto had virtually identical stats.

Over in the American League, Ohtani was also an easy winner over Miguel Andujar, 451-375. Gleyber Torres was third with 176 points. I had Andujar as the winner, with Ohtani second and Torres third.
