IBWAA Names Maddon, Banister Top Managers; Collins 2nd
The Internet Baseball Writers Association of America (IBWAA) on Tuesday voted Joe Maddon and Jeff Banister the top managers of their respective leagues.
The Cubs’ Maddon got 111 first place-votes, or 62% Terry Collins finished second with 406 points and 39 first-place votes. Mike Matheny was third. I, of course, had Collins first. Maddon did a great job with the Cubs but Collins was better. I had Maddon second and Matheny third.
Over in the American League, Banister’s 440 points just got past Astros skipper A.J. Hinch’s 415. John Gibbons was third. I had Hinch first, then Gibbons and the Rangers’ Banister.
