Another Check of 2016 Mets Payroll
The Mets agreed to contracts with five players on Friday, so it seems appropriate to do another check of the 2016 Mets payroll. Here’s where we are now:
Bartolo Colon: $7,250,000 (actual)
Matt Harvey: $4.325,000 (actual)
Jacob deGrom: $600,000 (est)
Noah Syndergaard: 600,000 (est)
Steven Matz: $600,000 (est)
Zack Wheeler: $600,000 (est)
Jerry Blevins: $4,000,000 (actual)
Carlos Torres: $1,050,000 (actual)
Josh Edgin: $625,000 (actual)
Addison Reed: $5,300,000 (actual)
Jeurys Familia: $2,000,000 (est)
Sean Gilmartin: $600,000 (est)
Hansel Robles: $600,000 (est)
Erik Goedell: $600,000 (est)
Travis d’Arnaud: $600,000 (est)
Kevin Plawecki: $600,000 (est)
David Wright: $20,000,000 (actual)
Asdrubal Cabrera: $8,250,000 (actual)
Ruben Tejada: $3,000,000 (actual)
Lucas Duda: $6,000,000 (est)
Wilmer Flores: $600,000 (est)
Neil Walker: $10,000,000 (est)
Curtis Granderson: $16,000,000 (actual)
Juan Lagares: $2,500,000 (actual)
Alejandro De Aza: $5,750,000 (actual)
Michael Conforto: $600,000 (est)
Outfielder: ?????
I actually thought Harvey would get $7 million, so this makes room in the budget. I also thought Torres would get $2 million, not half that. I predicted Reed at $5 million, a little low. I was exact on Tejada and I didn’t even have Edgin budgeted. This payroll check also includes De Aza.
So now the actual salaries are now $78,050,000. The estimates are $24,600,000, for a grand total Mets payroll of $102,650,000. That’s about $3 million higher than the last estimate. At a projected payroll of $110 million, there is still plenty of room of add an outfielder as well as a quality late inning reliever.
