IBWAA Votes Guerrero, Rodriguez to Hall of Fame

The always ahead of the curve Internet Baseball Writers Association of America (IBWAA) on Wednesday announced it has voted Vladimir Guerrero and Ivan Rodriguez into the Hall of Fame on their first time on the ballot. That other, less inclusive, group announces its vote later in the day.

Both received 84.54% of the vote. Mike Mussina got 74.88%, missing by one vote. Trevor Hoffman also just missed with 73.91%

But the big story is that Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens also received more than 70% of the vote — 73.43% and 71.50% respectively. They should get in next year, showing how voters are becoming more accepting of players connected to PEDs.

However, players who failed tests are still having a tough time. On his first time on the ballot, Manny Ramirez received 52.66% of the vote.

Jeff Bagwell and Tim Raines are expected to be voted in by the BBWAA. The IBWAA has already voted them (and Edgar Martinez) in, so they did not appear on our ballot.

Here’s my ballot.
