R.A. Dickey Deal Expanding?
As the Mets and Blue Jays get closer to a trade for R.A. Dickey, there are reports the deal is expanding to include seven players.
Mike Puma of the New York Post tweets that the Mets would send three players to Toronto in exchange for four Blue Jays. The Mets would send Dickey, Josh Thole and another player to the Jays for Travis d’Arnaud, backup catcher John Buck, hot pitching prospect Noah Syndergaard and another player.
I don’t mind sending Thole far, far away, but I don’t like the idea of getting Buck. He is making $6 million in 2013 — a lot for a backup. But I guess that evens out the $5 million owed to R.A. Dickey.
Getting Syndergaard would apparently be something of a coup, so this seems like a pretty good deal.
Stay tuned.
Buck is a placeholder for the Mets who need someone to catch the ball next year and a salary dump for Toronto who gets Thole who has experience with Dickey in return. Travis D’Arnaud and Syndergaard could be game changers for this team, if we need to eat a bad contract I am glad that the Mets are able to do that đŸ™‚
