Matt Harvey Named NL Player of the Week
Matt Harvey has been named the National League Player of the Week.
It was a well-earned honor — Harvey went 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA in his two starts. In 15 innings he allowed just five hits and struck out 15 batters. He took a no-hitter into the seventh inning of his start Saturday in frigid Minneapolis.
Matt Harvey likely took the honor away from John Buck, who had a pretty good week himself. He hit four home runs (in consecutive games) with 10 RBIs.
This could be the first of many accolades for Matt Harvey this season, who has been simply sensational in his three starts this far this season. His next start is shaping up to be the game of the year — he takes on Stephen Strasburg when the Mets play the Nationals Friday night at Citi Field.
