IBWAA Elects Ichiro, Sabathia, Wagner, Jones, Mauer to Hall of Fame
The Internet Baseball Writers Association of America (IBWAA) elected five players to our non-existent Hall of Fame Monday. Ichiro Suzuki, C.C. Sabathia, Billy Wagner, Andruw Jones and Joe Mauer all made the cut.
Ichiro was not unanimous for some reason, garnering 94.7% of the vote. Sabathia and Wagner received the same 81.3%. Jones and Mauer (whom we did not elect last year despite the BBWAA voting him into the Hall) both got 76%.
As far as former Mets, cheater Carlos Beltran received 58.7% while David Wright got 16% and Francisco Rodriguez garnered 13.3%.
I never got around to posting my ballot (I’m very busy), so here it is — I voted for Ichiro, Sabathia, Wagner, Wright and Rodriguez. Wright obviously will never get elected, but I would like to see him remain on the ballot. I almost didn’t vote for Rodriguez again, but his stats are so similar to Wagner that I felt like I should. Maybe next year, with no Wagner on the ballot, I won’t. We’ll see how I feel that day.
