Mets Lose a Wild One
Last season I missed the Mets epic 20-inning game against the Cardinals because it was not the Fox “Game of the Week” here in sunny Los Angeles. The same thing happened on Saturday when we got the Cubs-Cardinals instead of Mets-Brewers. And once again it appears I missed a memorable game.
I missed the Mets coming back from a 7-1 deficit by scoring five runs in the seventh, then taking a 9-7 lead with three in the eighth off of Francisco Rodriguez. That would have been something to see.
Fortunately I missed the Mets blowing the game when K-Rod’s replacement Jason Isringhausen (below) allowed four runs in the ninth, and the Mets went down 11-9.
I can’t speak to the specifics of the game because I didn’t see it, but I can say one thing for certain — Chris Capuano sucks. He allowed seven runs (five earned) to raise his ERA to 4.71, eighth worse among qualifying pitchers in the National League. And the Mets are considering resigning him for next season?! Why?
The Mets are now five games under .500, and have fallen behind the Nationals into fourth place in the NL East. Not an enviable place to be.
