Mets fans can stop dreaming (or having nightmares) about Ryan Braun playing in Flushing — the general manager of the Brewers says it ain’t happening.
“We have no intentions of trading Ryan,” Doug Melvin told the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel in Thursday’s edition. “There’s absolutely no truth to that. We’ve never contacted any team about Ryan.”
He did say “four or five clubs” asked him about Braun at the GM Meetings last week, but “I told them no.” Melvin would not identify the teams, but he said the Mets may have been one of them.
So that should put an end to any talk about Ryan Braun being dealt. But you just know reporters will continue to speculate about the possibility regardless of the strong denial.
So while this story likely will not go away, you should not believe a word of it.
