Predictions for 2025 Season

Well, Opening Day sure crept up on me. It’s still March, after all, and it was really cold this morning. The last thing I was thinking about was the Boys of Summer. But here we are; I’ll make this brief.

The Mets are expecting a deep October run that they hope will splash into November (March-November; long season!). And there’s no reason they can’t do it, considering they have one of the most powerful lineups in the game. However, their pitching could leave much to be desired. It doesn’t look very intimidating on paper, but fortunately games are played on grass. If Sean Manea comes back strong from his season-delaying injury and the Mets pitching lab can work wonders on the likes of Frankie Montas (also injured to start the season) and Griffin Canning, then perhaps the Mets might have a solid rotation. If not, we all better hope the trade deadline and farmhands such as Brandon Sproat and Blake Tidwell are waiting in the wings to help.

So what’s my prediction for the Mets? I say second place in the NL East behind the stupid Phillies. The Mets still get a Wild Card, along with the equally stupid Braves and Diamondbacks. The Dodgers and Reds win their respective divisions.

Over in the American League, I see the Red Sox, Tigers and Mariners winning their respective divisions, with the Orioles, Rangers and Astros as Wild Cards (no Yankees make for an enjoyable postseason!).

As for the World Series, well, it would be easy to predict the Dodgers to win it all. But that’s boring, and this is a Mets site, after all. So let’s go with a rematch of the 1986 World Series, with the Mets breaking the hearts of the Red Sox once again.
