Classy Eric Young Bids Farewell to Mets & Fans
Say what you will about Eric Young, but he is a classy guy (remember when he was involved in that ugly play at first in which Tim Hudson broke his ankle? He stood by in tears, apologizing to Hudson as he was carted off of the field. When was the last time you saw an opposing player do that?). A day after the Mets non-tendered him, Young posted a nice note on his Instagram account, thanking the Mets and their fans:
Thankyou to the @Mets organization, for the opportunity to play baseball for one of my “home town” teams. It meant a lot being able to come back and put on for my city. #PWAY My family and I would like to say Thankyou to the all the Met fans across the world, as well as fans of just myself for the love and support. You all have been a pleasure to play in front of. Now I’m excited and optimistic for this next chapter in my career. Thankyou for the continued prayer and support of my career and beyond. I’ll continue to work hard, and leave it all out on the field. Take Care and stay Forever Young
Now that they have nontendered him, he might be able to come back on one of those $1mil+ deals if he really wants.
