What Will Mets Do at 3rd Base?
One of the big holes in the Mets lineup is at third base — assuming David Wright cannot come back after missing the past season and a half. What will the Mets do to fill the vital need this winter?
Well, they already re-signed Asdrubal Cabrera, and at $8.5 million, there is a good chance the position is his. But there are other options.
Here’s what the good folks over at Sports Betting Dime have to say about who’s next to get signed:
“David Wright’s MLB career is likely at its close (whether he’s prepared to acknowledge it or not), which means the Mets need to find a permanent solution at third base. The best available free agent is Kansas City’s Mike Moustakas, who’s coming off a 38-home run season. But the Mets have other needs to fill, as well, and might be better served by going with a slightly cheaper option like Todd Frazier. He would bring an elite glove to the hot corner and provide power at the plate. We give Frazier marginally better odds (7/2) of ending up in a Mets uniform next year than Moustakas (5/1).”
