Mets Re-Sign Adam Ottavino
The Mets made a crucial move Tuesday, bringing back Adam Ottavino to the bullpen. He gets a much-deserved two-year, $14.5 million contract.
Ottavino was the second best reliever for the Mets in 2022 (no one in baseball was even close to Edwin Diaz). The Brooklyn native pitching to a 2.06 ERA with 79 strikeouts in 65.2 innings. His slider is one of the best I’ve ever seen; when it is on, it is unhittable.
The Mets bullpen suddenly looks very formidable, with Diaz and Ottavino back in the fold, and the acquisitions of David Robertson and Brooks Raley. And now they are reportedly talking about trading for Liam Hendriks. How incredible would that be?!
