Jacob deGrom, Mets Shut Out Rockies
The Mets won their third straight game over the Rockies Wednesday night, their second victory in a row via shutout as Jacob deGrom was brilliant again.
The game was scoreless until the fourth when Juan Lagares led off with a single. He moved to second on a ground out and then with two outs he scored on a Juan Uribe double Uribe came around to score on a Michael Cuddyer single to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.
Meantime Jacob deGrom held the Rockies scoreless for his seven innings, allowing just two hits and striking out 10. He did walk four batters, which is unusual for him. He upped his record to 11-6 and lowered his ERA to 2.03. It was his first decision after three no-decisions.
Yoenis Cespedes added an insurance run in the eighth with a solo home run. his first as a Met.
Jeurys Familia picked up his 32nd save as the Mets win 3-0. They are now 10 games over .500 and have a three game lead in the NL East, pending the Nationals late game in sunny Los Angeles.
