Breaking: Wally Backman Leaves Mets

The Mets fans dream of Wally Backman one day managing the Mets is dead — he is leaving the organization, Sandy Alderson confirmed Monday evening.

ESPN New York‘s Adam Rubin reports Alderson said it was Backman’s decision to leave as manager of Triple-A Las Vegas to pursue major league opportunities. But Mike Puma of the New York Post reports Backman was fired.
