Revenge: Mets Win on Hit-by-Pitch
Remember how we all felt last week when the Mets lost a game on a balk? Well, how do you think A’s fans feel right now, after their team lost on a hit-by-pitch?
The Mets and A’s played well into night and into Thursday morning, and in the 13th inning with the bases loaded, a pitch from submariner Brad Ziegler didn’t submarine and nicked Justin Turner on the left thigh. Lucas Duda trotted in from third and the Mets were 3-2 winners.
The game could have and probably should have ended hours earlier. R.A. Dickey was sensational, allowing just one run in eight innings, striking out nine. The Mets took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the eighth when Justin Turner followed a Jose Reyes triple with a single to drive him in.
But K-Rod blew his third save of the year (and his second straight) as the A’s tied the score at two. If there was one saving grace of the game is was that Rodriguez did not get another game finished.
But it all turned out all right as the Mets got a much-needed win. Now they have to turn around and play Thursday afternoon. That should be fun.
