Jonathon Niese: I Don’t Need No Stinkin’ Surgery
Jonathon Niese has assured Terry Collins that he will not need surgery on his partial rotator cuff tear. I’m not sure where Niese did his residency, but he knows best, right?
Niese was diagnosed wit the tear after an MRI last week. It apparently had nothing to do with the shoulder tendinitis he has been battling for about a month because doctors say they did an MRI then and didn’t see the tear. And the Mets doctors have never made any mistakes in the past, so…
So maybe we should indeed believe Niese and his diagnosis. Collins said Niese told him over the phone that he will have another MRI next week, and if all goes well he will soon begin a throwing program.
The Mets need a healthy Jonathon Niese now and going forward; Matt Harvey and Zack Wheeler are fine, but a team needs more than two quality starters in order to take that next step.
