Reports: Mets to Sign Todd Frazier
Multiple reports Monday night say the Mets will sign Todd Frazier. The deal is reportedly for two years, $17 million. This is a good deal for the Mets.
Frazier will play third base and could play first. Sure, he strikes out a lot (125 times last season for the White Sox and Yankees) and hits for a low average (.213), but he hits homers (27), is solid defensively and is said to be a good clubhouse guy. Eight and a half million per year is pretty good for a guy like that.
With Yoenis Cespedes, Jay Bruce, Michael Conforto (when he returns from injury) and now Todd Frazier, the Mets have a pretty formidable middle of the lineup. Well done, Sandy Alderson.
