Sandy Alderson Takes Leave of Absence

The Mets announced Tuesday afternoon that Sandy Alderson would take an immediate leave of absence to be treated for cancer.

“You got to deal with it,” Alderson said Tuesday according to ESPN.com. “It’s a matter of rearranging priorities.”

Alderson was diagnosed with cancer after the Mets World Series run in 2015. He never disclosed what type of cancer it was and we really haven’t heard much about it since. It was safe to assume he had won that battle, but apparently it is still ongoing.

The Mets say the triumvirate of John Ricco, J.P. Ricciardi and Omar Minaya will split the GM job in Alderson’s absence.
