Busted Finger Report
We find two — count ’em two — Mets players in the busted finger report for Sunday.
Jason Bay sat out the finale with the Phillies with a jammed his right ring finger. It seems he hurt himself diving back into first base after Kirk Nieuwenhuis missed a hit-and-run sign on Saturday.
“It’s the jammed finger epidemic that’s going around,” Bay said. “We taped it up. Then it was fine. This morning it was bruised and swollen and I can’t really get it around the bat. Hopefully one day to get the swelling out, it will be fine.”
However Mets Blog reports that Terry Collins answered “I don’t know” when asked if Bay would play Monday.
As far as David Wright, he and his fractured pinkie are doing just fine, thank you very much. He was two-for-four Sunday, following three hits on Saturday, including a home run, in his first game back. Wright is now hitting .571 on the young season.
Justin Turner said following Wright’s homer that he jokingly asked the team trainer to break his pinkie. Whatever it takes…
