Cardinals Blow Out Mets Again

Didn’t think it could get any worse than Tuesday’s 10-2 loss to the Cardinals. Well, it did. The Mets lost Wednesday to the Cards 9-0.

Terry Collins mercifully removes Bartolo Colon from the game after crummy outing.

Bartolo Colon threw batting practice, lasting 4.1 innings, allowing nine runs (eight earned) on 11 hits. He also walked two batters after walking just one all season. His record falls to 6-3 and his ERA is up to an unsightly 4.85. Looks like the Mets waited too long to trade him (the same with Jonathon Niese).

The Mets offense managed four measly hits. They had only five on Tuesday. This team just cannot hit. And don’t forget, Sandy Alderson is not looking to trade for any bats.

And as I write this the Nationals just beat the Yankees, so the Mets are no longer in first place. Don’t expect to see them in that lofty perch again this season.

A bad, bad couple of nights.
