IBWAA Names Snitker, Melvin Top Managers
The Internet Baseball Writers Association of America (IBWAA) Tuesday named Brian Snitker and Bob Melvin the top managers in their respective leagues.
Snitker, with 502 points, managed the Braves to a surprise NL East title and was an easy winner over Craig Counsell, skipper of the NL Central champion Brewers, who garnered 311 points. The Rockies’ Bud Black was third. My ballot was identical.
Over in the American League, Melvin received 479 points after leading the A’s to 97 wins and a Wild Card berth. Kevin Cash, whose Rays won 90 games, was second with 297 points. Alex Cora of the champion Red Sox was third with 285 points. I voted for Cora, Melvin and Aaron Boone of the stupid Yankees.
