Carlos Who? Mets Rip Reds
When Ike Davis went down, the Mets offense suffered. The same thing happened when David Wright and Jose Reyes went away for a while. But now Carlos Beltran is gone forever. How did the Mets offense fare in their first game without him. Quite well, thank you — they beat the Reds 8-2.
Wright continued his amazing production since he returned — he was two-for-four with a three-run blast. He is now 12-for-28 with two homers and 11 RBIs in his six games back. The Mets are 4-2 in those games, and Wright has raised his average from .226 to .259.
Talk about amazing, Daniel Murphy had four more hits. He is 9-for-14 in this series and is now batting .319, third in the National League.
Oh, and that Jose Reyes guy had two more hits, another multi-hit game. Ho hum.
(Jason Bay 0-for-five).
Mike Pelfrey had his game on, throwing his second complete game of the season. He allowed the two runs, struck out three, and perhaps most importantly, did not walk anyone.
The Mets go for the sweep in a matinee on Thursday.
