Jason Bay on Concussion DL

The Mets announced on Twitter Saturday that they have placed Jason Bay on the seven-day concussion disabled list. Justin Turner was activated from the DL to take his place on the roster.

Hey David, probably not a good idea to pat a guy on the head who just suffered a concussion!

Bay slid head first into the left field wall while attempting to track down a ball Friday night which ended up being an inside the park home run. Bay walked wobbly off the field and the Mets immediately said he had a “possible concussion.”

Bay suffered a season-ending concussion in late July 2010. He didn’t fully recover until October.

It remains to be seen how long this concussion will keep him out. The force of this one was far less than the one two years ago, but they say things get worse with each concussion a person suffers, so, who knows?

What we do know is that with each injury and failure at the plate when manages to make it onto the field, Bay’s contract is looking like the worst deal in Mets history.
